Youth Art Corner
Our goal was to turn a neglected street or Park of Athens into a corner of artistic expression of young people within a few days. In the implementation of the project in collaboration with the Municipality of Agioi Anargyroi-Kamatero we made a complete renovation of Kokkinopoulos Square, we planted trees, we painted the whole place with nice colors, we cleaned the park from garbage, we placed bicycle straps and benches, we made a wall of goodness.
Initially we contacted the municipality which gave us permission to build in this park. Then we made a first acquaintance with the residents of the area and through non-formal education procedures with all the volunteers we came up with the above interventions. The park came to life and changed its look completely within two days.
The project aims to give the opportunity to young people living in neglected areas of Athens to be actively involved in improving the quality of their place, so that they feel useful and able to contribute to such actions. Young and old played an active role throughout the action. In the second phase, we contacted other local organizations such as Aikinito and the municipal exchange of Agioi Anargyroi in order to keep alive the wall of goodness (it is a wall where everyone can leave something and take something else). Also in collaboration with these organizations we plan to do some theater, dance and cinema events in September (we moved the date due to the coronary) in parallel with a bazaar.
